Hany Rashed

Hany Rashed, born in Cairo in 1975, is a self-taught artist whose journey began in 1995. Over the years, his work has evolved, traversing various mediums while addressing personal, political, and social themes. Rashed honed his craft at the studio of renowned artist Mohamed Abla from 1994 to 2004. Known for his innovative use of photography, he uses irony and distortion as key visual elements to convey his ideas, with his characters reflecting the shifts and stages of his life.
Rashed has held numerous solo exhibitions at Mashrabia Gallery in Cairo. His work has also garnered international attention, with solo exhibitions in Paris, London, Dubai, and Vienna, and group exhibitions across Europe, including Italy, Germany, Spain, Denmark, the Netherlands, Sweden, and Finland.
His works have been acquired by prestigious institutions such as Tate Modern in England, the Museum of Contemporary Art in Yinchuan, China, and the Museum of Modern Art in Cairo. His works have been auctioned twice at Sotheby’s in London, and he has participated in the Thessaloniki Biennale in Greece, the Dakar Biennale in Senegal, the Cape Town Biennale in South Africa, and the Alexandria Biennale.
