Aliaa Elgready

Aliaa El Gready is an Egyptian visual artist born in 1968. Aliaa’s work varies from installation to video installation to painting and jewellery. Aliaa’s work tries to open a space for re-thinking of the inputs and the postulates which creates the form of the contemporary relations between human beings, Aliaa has been working also on using art as an introduction to social transformation since 1998. In 2013, she co-founded Gudran Association for Art and Development which mainly works on empowering women of marginalized communities through promoting their skills and activating their creative participation.
Aliaa had several exhibitions and performances in Egypt, Cameroon, Senegal, Spain, Italy and Germany,Sweden and Austria. She was invited to hold a speech in the 52th edition of the Venice Biennale in 2007. El Gready was awarded for her installation at the 5th Cairo Biennale in 1995, Earned a scholarship to the Egyptian Academy in Rome 1997 and awarded the prize of the Library of Alexandria 2007.
